The USCB baseball team swept the weekly Sun Conference awards Monday, as senior left-hander John Gora was named Pitcher of the Week and junior catcher Nick Payne earned Player of the Week honors in voting by the league's sports information directors. 

The Sand Sharks went 4-1 last week to improve to 11-2 overall and took two of three from 15th-ranked Keiser to move to 5-1 in Sun Conference play. 

Gora shut down the Seahawks over eight innings in Friday's series opener, allowing two runs – one earned – and five hits while striking out four. He retired All-American and reigning TSC Player of the Year Keivan Berges all four times. The earned run was the first Gora has allowed this season, as he boasts a 0.42 ERA and has walked just one batter in 21 2/3 innings.

Payne had a huge week at the plate, going 9-for-13 with two homers, eight RBIs and three runs scored in four games. He was 6-for-7 with a homer and five RBIs in the Sand Sharks' two wins over No. 15 Keiser, and USCB's only loss of the week was a 5-4 defeat against the Seahawks in which Payne did not play after being hit in the knee with a bat in Game 1 of the series.

The Sand Sharks are scheduled to play a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Edward Waters (Fla.) before traveling to Ave Maria for a three-game Sun Conference series on Friday and Saturday.
