After a successful stint as USCB's interim women's golf coach, Brittany Dabule has been named to the position permanently, the school announced Monday.
Dabule took over the Sand Sharks' women's golf program on an interim basis in January and led USCB to a program-best third-place finish at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships last month in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
"From our initial meeting months ago, and even after a national search, there is no question in my mind that Brittany is the right choice to continue the great success our women's golf program has enjoyed over the years. The team's outstanding performance at nationals just served to confirm that belief," USCB Director of Athletics Quin Monahan. "We are excited for Brittany to have a chance to really put her stamp on the program and lead Sand Shark women's golf to even greater heights in the years to come."
In Dabule's debut as interim coach, the Sand Sharks won the Lady Cougar Classic in Columbus, Ga., before going on to post three third-place finishes – at the Coker Women's Invitational, the Sun Conference Championships, and the NAIA National Championships. USCB returns all seven players from this year's team and has commitments from incoming recruits who will help bolster an already strong roster.
"Having the opportunity to become a collegiate coach right here at home has been a dream come true," Dabule said. "I'm very excited for next year and hope the newcomers will come in and raise the level of competition amongst the team. With hard work and dedication, I'm confident this upcoming season will include more team top finishes, tournament wins, and hopefully a Sun Conference championship and another chance to bring home a national title."
Dabule was a standout at Hilton Head Island High School before playing collegiately at Winthrop University and spending one year playing professionally on the Cactus Tour. Dabule was an All-Big South player at Winthrop, where she earned an undergraduate degree in sports management.
Prior to joining USCB in January, Dabule worked as an assistant golf professional at three prestigious clubs, including Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island. She also spent one season as the varsity girls' golf coach at Hilton Head Island High School and was the co-developer of the Sea Pines Montessori School's "Hooked On Golf" program.
