BLUFFTON, SC- The University of South Carolina Beaufort Baseball Team held their second annual Christmas party, hosted by Coach Sofield on Wednesday. The night consisted of dinner, friendship, singing and laughter. 

Held in the USCB Student Center, and joined by Jane and Tom Upshaw, members of the Shark Park Committee, and the entire baseball program, the celebration began with the reading of the Birth of Jesus, from the Gospel of Luke and in USCB tradition The Night Before Christmas was also read. The players enjoyed seeing Coach Sofield sing and dance to his favorite Christmas carols including: Go Tell It on The Mountain, Jingle Bells, Little Drummer Boy, Let It Snow, Deck the Halls, Joy to the World and many others. Chancellor Upshaw and Coach Sofield even sang Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, in a lovely duet. 

There were assigned songs to pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders; it was a competition of sorts to see which group could come up with the best rendition of their assigned song. Sofield is always teaching and this celebration was no different. Coach spoke to the players about the meaning of Christmas, and the importance of being selfless. He encouraged them to work hard over the three week break, and to be ready to hit the ground running on January 4th when their first spring practice is scheduled. 

The Sand Sharks home opener is scheduled for February 6th against Benedict at 12pm.
