Abby Pac's 6th win of the year and center fielder
Kayla Boyle's 3 hits. With those 3 hits, Boyle tied Marissa Becker for most hits all-time in USCB softball history.
Sloan Ducey started game 2 and continued to dominate from the circle, pitching a shutout for her 7th win of the season, and leading the Sand Sharks to a 3-0 victory.
In game 1, the Sand Sharks fell behind 2-0 in the 1st inning, and trailed 3-0 going to the bottom of the 3rd. But then they found the magic once again. After
Taylor Boykin reached on an error leading off the inning,
Kayla Boyle doubled to deep center, scoring Boykin.
Shania Domingue then doubled to right to score Boyle. After a fly out and a ground out,
Natassja Hatcher singled up the middle to drive in Domingue and tie the game at 3. The game remained tied until the bottom of the 6th, when RBI singles by pinch-hitter
Haley Hawkins and
Taylor Boykin gave the Sand Sharks the lead for good.
Maria Molloseau came on in relief of
Abby Pac, and pitched 2 innings of 1-hit ball to notch her fifth win of the season.
In game 2, aggressive baserunning in the 1st inning gave the Sand Sharks what turned out to be the only run they would need.
Taylor Boykin led off the inning with a walk. After stealing 2nd, Boykin took 3rd on a single by
Shania Domingue. With runners on 1st and 3rd, the Sand Sharks executed a perfect delayed double-steal, scoring Boykin. The Sand Sharks added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd on a bases loaded RBI walk by pinch-hitter
Hayley Welsch, and a sacrifice fly to center by
Kayla Boyle.
Sloan Ducey took care of the everything else for USCB, pitching a complete game, 7-hit shutout, in which she allowed only 1 walk and struck out 4.
In both games, the Sand Sharks played stellar defense, led by several tremendous plays at short by
Melina Martinez, and a couple of web gems by 1st baseman
Shania Domingue and 2nd baseman
Kaitlyn O'Hearn.
Sand Shark softball takes the diamond at Sand Shark Park on Wednesday, the 27th, at 1pm for a TSC doubleheader vs. the Webber International University Warriors.
