University of South Carolina Beaufort SAAC Mission Statement
To enhance the full student-athlete experience by fostering open communication between student-athletes and administration, providing leadership opportunities within athletics and throughout the university community, and improving the performance and day-to-day life of student-athletes in and out of competition. Furthermore, the SAAC will be a voice for the athletics department, promote school spirit and engage the campus community, while promoting a positive student-athlete image.
SAAC 2024-25 Constitution and Bylaws
Membership
SAAC shall consist of at least two full-time active voting members from each varsity team. More than two members of the same team may be members of SAAC on an At-Large basis and serve on subcommittees. From this body of representatives, an Executive Board shall be elected.
Qualifications
Requirements for members of SAAC include the following:
- Maintain academic eligibility and be in good standing with the University;
- Attend all meetings unless a circumstance arises that can’t be changed;
- Take an active leadership role in the meetings;
- Communicate with respective team members, listening to and noting issues that affect student-athlete welfare;
- Represent the teams’ views and concerns and communicate those at meetings;
- Report on committee meetings to the team and coaching staff, informing them of upcoming events and issues discussed;
- Be a positive advocate of the Athletics program and University, representing your teammates in a first-class manner;
- Promote the mission of the Athletics program and be an active participant in community and campus projects chosen by SAAC.
Executive Committee
This board, in conjunction with professional staff liaisons and Co-Advisors, shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Media Coordinator with an option for an additional Ex-Officio member, when necessary. No team shall hold more than one seat on the Executive Board.
