Kayla Boyle's 1st home run of the year and
Abby Pac's complete game 5-hitter, #18 USCB softball defeated the Warner University Royals in game 2 of Saturday's TSC doubleheader in Lake Wales 9-1 in 5 innings. The Sand Sharks dropped game 1 by a 5-0 score. USCB softball is now 26-6 overall on the season, and they are tied with Webber International, whom they defeated twice on Wednesday at Sand Shark Park, for the best record in The Sun Conference at 8-4.
In game 1, The Sand Sharks potent offense was held to just 3 hits - 2 singles by
Natassja Hatcher and a single by
Kylie Kelly - as they fell to Warner 5-0.
Abby Pac started the game and took the loss (5-4), pitching 5 ⅓ innings.
Maria Molloseau pitched the final ⅔ inning in relief.
In game 2, USCB rebounded in a big way, winning 9-1 in 5 innings.
Kayla Boyle drilled her 1st home run of the year in the top of the 5th, and
Natassja Hatcher added 3 hits and 3 RBIs to lead the offense.
Taylor Boykin,
Shania Domingue, and
Emily Martin had 1 hit apiece.
Abby Pac started game 2 as well, going the distance to pick up her 6th win of the year (6-4). She allowed just 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3.
USCB Softball returns home to Sand Shark Park on Thursday, April 4, to take on Keiser University in a TSC doubleheader at 2pm. They welcome Trinity Baptist on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 2pm. On Saturday, Ave Maria comes to Sand Shark Park on Alumni/Family day to face USCB in a TSC doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.
