HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - After sneaking out a one-run win (4-3) in game one of Tuesday's doubleheader versus Savannah Sate, the USCB softball team dominated the Tigers (11-2) to pick up its eighth straight victory at Richard Gray Stadium.
INSIDE GAME ONE BOX SCORE

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED
After leaving a pair of Tigers stranded in the first inning, USCB capitalized in the bottom of the first inning with a run. Frankhouser led off the inning with a bunt single, and after a stolen base, Alte connected with a single to put two runners on base. Jodi Hatcher walked to forced the bases loaded with no outs. After an infield fly, Freeman grounded to the shortstop to plate Frankhouser from third and give USCB the early 1-0 lead.
The Sand Sharks threatened to add more runs in the bottom of the second, but the trio of runners were left stranded.
USCB's offense added key insurance runs in the home half of the fourth, as it took a 4-0 lead. Locasto walked to start the rally, and after a stolen base, Dunn dropped a bunt single to put runners at the corners. Hawkins roped a single to right center to plate Locasto easily. Frankhouser followed with a walk to force the bases loaded, and Alte took advantage with a sacrifice fly with no outs. Hatcher followed suit with a sacrifice fly of her own to push the Sand Shark lead to four.Â
Savannah State didn't give in, as it plated two runs in the top of the fifth. Kameryn Baker connected with a single, which allowed two of her teammates to score and cut the deficit in half (4-2).
The Tigers made it a one-run game, 4-3, as Chloe Gallivan cracked a double down the left field line to score JaNesa Robinson from second.
That was as close as SSU would get, as Molloseau forced a 1-2-3 seventh inning to seal the one-run win.

Locasto - 2-for-2, double, two RBIs, three runs scored
Kaleigh Furbush - 2-for-3, two RBIs
Hawkins - 2-for-2, double, one run, two walks
Alte and Freeman - two RBIs each
Frankhouser - one RBI, one run and two walks
Emily Martin and Hoolie Garcia - one hit, one RBI and one run scored each
Rachel Catt - five innings, three hits, two runs, win
HOW GAME TWO HAPPENED
Similar to game one of the doubleheader, USCB jumped out to a quick lead, as it plated a pair of runs in the first. Furbush connected with a RBI single, and Martin walked with the bases loaded to earn her only RBI of the game.
However, SSU responded the next half inning with two runs of its own to knot the game back up, 2-2. Da'Ondalyn Simmons singled with one out, and Jalexia Wright connected with a sacrifice fly to tie the game.Â
The Sand Sharks added a solo run in the bottom of the second and a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to take a three-run lead, 5-2.
After a fast top of the fourth, USCB's offense exploded for six runs on six hits. Garcia started the scoring with a run-scoring single. Two batters later, Locasto roped a two-RBI single to center, and Frankhouser answered with a RBI ground out. SSU gifted the Sand Sharks with their 10th run off a throwing error, and Furbush ended the scoring with a RBI single to left to push the lead to nine, 11-2.
Savannah State had to score runs heading into the fifth inning down nine and almost did so. The Tigers put two runners on base via a hit and a walk, but they were left stranded in the nine-run defeat for Savannah State.

USCB softball will play its first doubleheader away from Richard Gray Stadium, as the Sand Sharks will travel to Cochran, Ga. to play Middle Georgia State. The doubleheader is set for Saturday, Feb. 15 and will begin at 1 p.m.
