MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - Behind 17 combined strikeouts from Ally Muraskin and Maria Molloseau and 11 team hits, the USCB softball team collected another doubleheader sweep in 2021, as the Sand Sharks upended Brewton-Parker, 4-3 and 4-0, on Friday afternoon.
INSIDE GAME ONE BOX SCORE
Muraskin - seven innings, win, four hits, one earned run, one walk, 10 strikeouts
Hoolie Garcia - 1-for-2, single, two RBIs
Shania Domingue - 1-for-3, single, one RBI, one run
Zinia Hampleton - 1-for-3, single, one RBI
Francie Gaskin - 1-for-3, single, one run
HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED
USCB scored three of its four runs in game one in the first two innings - two in the first and one in the second.Â
Domingue started the two-out rally in the first with a walk, and Gaskin followed with a single to center to put two Sand Sharks on base. Jodi Hatcher forced the bases loaded with a walk, and Garcia connected with a two-RBI single to put USCB up, 2-0.
After allowing one run in the bottom of the first, the Sand Sharks quickly recovered that lost run in the second. Hampleton connected with a two-out single to center, which scored Bri Dunn to make it a 3-1 game.Â
Muraskin really settled in the circle from the third inning-on, as she only allowed two base runners to reach safely in that stretch. Also in that four-inning stretch, she collected five strikeouts.
The Sand Sharks added a key insurance run in the top of the seventh when Domingue, again, sparked a two-out rally. She cracked a run-scoring single, which put USCB up - 4-1.
The Barons didn't cave though, as they mounted a rally of their own in the bottom of the seventh. Fortunately, Muarskin and the Sand Shark defense minimized the bleeding to just three runs to seal the one-run win, 4-3.
INSIDE GAME TWO BOX SCORE
Molloseau - seven innings, win, five hits, no runs, one walk, seven strikeouts
Gaskin - 2-for-4, double, single, two RBIs
Dunn - 1-for-4, single, one RBI
Domingue - 1-for-3, single, one RBI, one run
Alyssa Smith and Rachel Frankhouser - one hit each
HOW GAME TWO HAPPENED
USCB tried to plate runs in the first inning, like in game one, but the Sand Sharks left the bases loaded.Â
After holding BPC scoreless in the first, USCB posted a big inning - a four-run second frame - to give them the lead. Amber Locasto started the frame with a walk, and after a strikeout, Frankhouser singled to the pitcher to put two runners on. After a fielding error, Domingue posted a run-scoring hit, and Dunn followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 game. Gaskin really made it hurt, as she drilled a double past the first baseman, which plated two more runs and doubled USCB's lead - 4-0.Â
From the second inning-on, the Barons only put four runners on base - two of which came in the sixth inning - but they were left stranded.
After holding them scoreless for six frames, Molloseau continued her stretch into the seventh, despite BPC collecting a pair of singles in the inning. After stranding the pair of Barons on base, she collected her third win of the year (3-0).

USCB - 6-0 overall
