Beaufort battle top-ranked Night Hawks to final out in finale

DAHLONEGA -- The Sand Sharks had the tying run at first base and Taelor Chang singled down the right field line, but Devon Weller was thrown out at the plate as #1 North Georgia held on for a 4-3 win Sunday afternoon in Dahlonega.
 
Weller put Beaufort within one after driving in Jaden Goodwin who reached on a fielder's choice. The middle infield duo combined for all of USCB's offense as the Night Hawks traded a run for two outs in the fifth and Weller unloaded on a pitch to left center for her third long ball of the year. The Sand Sharks' starter Cierra Kinlaw threw a complete game, allowing four runs, three earned on 12 hits while striking out three.
 
North Georgia scored twice in the third and then a single run in the fourth before tacking on its fourth run in the sixth.
 
USCB returns home to Hardeeville this weekend as it hosts Lander for a three-game set starting on Saturday.
