Sand Sharks salvage split with Canes

HARDEEVILLE -- After a 10-1 loss in game two, USCB softball scored early in game three to salvage a split with visiting Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon battling to a 4-3 victory in the finale.

Game One
Georgia Southwestern cruised to a 10-1 victory in the opener, after scoring three runs in the first three innings and the dropping a six-spot in the seventh. Beaufort scratched a single run across the plate in the bottom of the inning after Jaci Coleman singled to right. Abigail Ramirez (2-9) took the loss while allowing nine runs - four earned - in six and two-thirds innings in the circle. The junior right-hander walked four and punched out four in the outing.

USCB mustered only four hits, two of which came from Addie Reynolds while Coleman and Taelor Chang recorded base knocks.

Game Two
The Sand Sharks jumped on the Hurricanes in the finale, pushing across a solo run in the first courtesy of Reynolds RBI single. Jaden Goodwin recorded a sacrifice fly in the second before Cole drilled her second home run of the season that bounced off the top of the wall and over the fence to give USCB a 4-0 lead. Starter Cierra Kinlaw (6-6) twirled another gem tossing a complete game, allowing three runs, only one of them earned in the victory. GSW pushed all of its run

The Sand Sharks hit the road for a week of non-conference play, first traveling down to Daytona Beach for a doubleheader against Embry-Riddle on Wednesday April 3rd and then heading to Lawrenceville, Georgia for a three-game series with Georgia Gwinnett.
