Sand Sharks powered by Chang, Reynolds, Turner sweep Cobras

HARTSVILLE -- USCB's offense scored in double-figures the seventh time this season claiming a pair of run rule wins over Coker Sunday 10-2 and 11-6.

The top of the lineup fed the middle in game one while also grabbing three RBI. Addie Reynolds and Katelyn Boyette combined for three hits and runs driven in for the Sand Sharks. Cierra Kinlaw (6-1) picked up the win in the circle tossing a complete game three-hitter, allowing just one run while striking out five.

Taelor Chang, Chloe Turner, and Reynolds powered the offense in game two, all collecting a pair of hits – including home runs – and combined for 10 runs batted in. Abigail Ramirez (1-0) picked up her first win of the year. Madison Murphy made her first appearance since February 8, tossing 3.1 innings with six strikeouts.

GAME ONE
USCB used a seven-run third inning to take control of the game. The first two batters of the innings reached, and the Simmons ripped an RBI double to center to score the go-ahead run. Turner followed that up with single to left to make it 3-1 in favor of Beaufort. After a flyout was the first out of the inning, Reynolds ripped a two-run triple to left center. The Cobras made a pitching change, but USCB's bats continued to punish the Coker's pitching staff. Three consecutive singles made it 6-1 and the two more runs came home on an error.

Miller and Whitlocks RBIs in the fifth capped the scoring for Beaufort and Kinlaw worked around a one-out error to pick up her sixth win of the season.

GAME TWO
Two separate four-run innings gave the Sand Sharks all the cushion needed for Ramirez. The senior righty tossed 2.3 innings of three run ball allowing seven hits and collecting four strikeouts.

Turner put USCB on the board with an RBI single and Chang blasted a three-run bomb during the next AB. The lineup turned over in the second inning and Turner stayed hot and blasted her first home run of the year.

Chang picked up another RBI in the fourth with a single, setting the table for Reynolds to blast the Sand Sharks second three-run long ball of the game. USCB added two more runs in the fifth courtesy of Simmons run scoring double and Turner's sacrifice fly.

The Sand Sharks return home to the 'Ville on Tuesday for a midweek doubleheader with Fayetteville State set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Richard Gray Sports Complex.
