Fore's big day sends Sand Sharks home with two wins

SAVANNAH -- Makenzie Fore blasted a pair of homers while driving in seven runs and USCB Softball picked up two run rule victories over Savannah State Friday afternoon taking game one 18-3 and game two 10-2 at the Lady Tiger Softball Field.

Beaufort scored in four of the five innings in game one, including a seven-run first inning. Caleigh Eubanks' first career homerun was the big blow in the first and Taelor Chang sent one over the wall in the second. Jaden Goodwin and Fore went back-to-back for the second time this season in the fourth and Fore against left the yard with a two-run blast in the fifth.

Cassie Brundage (1-0) tossed a complete game striking out six batters and allowing three runs, none of which were earned.

The bats stayed hot in game two as the offense put together consecutive big innings during a four-run second and five-run third. Saria Simmons and Tamiyah Whitlock scorched a couple of pitches that led to runs and Fore's bat drove in two runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Madison Murphy (1-0) worked four innings of one-run, two-hit ball with nine punch outs. Emily Morgan closed out the 10-2 victory.

The Sand Sharks are back in action tomorrow afternoon as Eckerd comes to Hardeeville for a doubleheader with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
