BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team concluded the Hurricane Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, completing the two-round tournament hosted by Georgia Southwestern in Albany, Georgia, at Doublegate Country Club.
The Sand Sharks placed fourth overall after finishing the tournament three over par with a final team score of 579 (287-292). Nova Southeastern won the team title with a total of 561, while Jordan Jones of Georgia Southwestern claimed first place on the individual leaderboard.
USCB had two individuals finish tied for fifth as Nikolai Holme and Leif Breede both finished at three under par.
Holme earned a top-five finish after posting two rounds under par. He opened with a two-under (70) before closing out the tournament with a one-under (71). Holme finished with the third-most birdies in the tournament with nine while adding 21 pars.
Breede also finished the tournament with 21 pars and nine birdies, matching Holme in both categories. Breede opened the tournament with an even-par 72 before carding a three-under AT 69 in the second round to help secure his top-five finish.
Alex Yuill was next for USCB, finishing tied for 33rd after carding a 76 in the second round to finish the tournament at three over par. Yuill finished tied for the team high with 24 pars over the two rounds while adding five birdies.
Justin Charoy finished tied for 62nd overall at eight over par after posting a second-round 78. He finished the tournament with three birdies and 24 pars, tying Yuill for the most pars on the Sand Sharks.
Benxing Shi finished tied for 69th overall at 10 over par after shooting a four-over 76 in the second round. He finished the tournament with 20 pars and added four birdies.
Jake Heinrich rounded out the Sand Sharks' lineup, finishing 79th overall. His best round came in the second round, when he carded a 78 (+6). Heinrich finished with a two-round total of 159 and recorded four birdies and 18 pars during the tournament.
The Sand Sharks return to action for a two-day tournament beginning Oct. 19, when USCB hosts the Parris Island Legends Collegiate.
