Sam Fritzinger begins her fifth season in 2025-26 as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's golf team after joining Cory Cottrell's staff prior to the 2021-22 season. 
 
Fritzinger comes to the Lowcountry after playing four years at NCAA DII Wingate. She graduated from Wingate in 2021 with a degree in sports management.

During her career, she was named a WGCA (Women's Golf Coaches Association) All-American Scholar four times, while also earning three South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition as well. In her senior season, she was Wingate's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee and also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition.

Her junior year (2019-20) was one of her most successful campaigns where she opened the year by earning medalist honors at the SAC Preview. She shot 2-under 142 (70-72) to win her first collegiate tournament. Her 2-under 70 performance marked a career-best round too. In that same year, she helped the Bulldogs win two tournament as a team as well as earning individual runner-up honors in two events. Playing in every tournament that year, she posted 12 rounds in the 70 en route to inking a season-best 77.19 scoring average.

2023-24 

  • Two team wins at the Rams Shootout at the Pines and Oldfield Classic 

  • Ellis Bright (Oldfield Classic) and Nikolai Holme (Rams Shootout at the Pines) picked up first place finishes during freshman year 

  • Finished tied for 3rd at the PBC Men’s Golf Championship, Ellis Bright finished tied for fourth 

  • Ashleigh Mead picked up her fourth career win at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational 

2022-23 

  • 2023 Continental Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Champions  

  • Ashleigh Mead crowned individual champion at CAC Championships, the Lady Bearcat Invitational, and the Dual in the Lowcountry 

  • Jacob Thomas claimed individual title at Innisbrook Invite 

2021-22 

  • Picked up two wins during the season at the Monument Golf Oldfield Classic and the Dual Match vs Drexel 

  • Tyler Fox (Monument Golf Oldfield Classic) Christoph Hagenauer (Dual Match vs SCAD), and Dawson Peters (Coastal Georgia Fall Invite) claimed individual wins  

  • Ashleigh Mead picked up her first collegiate win at the Monument Golf Oldfield Intercollegiate  

2020-21 

  • Took over the program in spring of 2021 

  • Recorded three top 3 finishes including a win in a dual match vs SCAD Savannah 

  • Dawson Peters took home individual crown at the Oldfield Classic; Jacob Thomas finished just one stroke behind to finish second 

  • Jacob Thomas claimed the individual win over in dual match vs SCAD Savannah; Dawson Peters finished second in same event 

  • Dawson Peters won the Roadrunner Classic, his third victory of the season 

  • Finished third overall at the Sun Conference Championships

With Fritzinger's assistance the USCB men's golf team earned the 2024-25 Peach Belt Men's Golf Championship, shooting 13-under with a team score of 851. The first PBC title in program history as well as in USCB Athletics history. 

Since joining the NCAA DII ranks, the men's golf team has improved from No. 51 in the country to No. 12 in just a two-year span. USCB's regional has jumped from No. 13 to No. 6.
