Dr. Bob LeFavi enters his fifth year as the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Appointed to the role in February 2022, Dr. LeFavi serves as the liaison between USCB Athletics and the academic community, helping ensure the university maintains a strong balance between its academic mission and intercollegiate athletic programs.

A former Founding Dean of USCB’s Beaufort campus, Dr. LeFavi brings a deep commitment to student success and institutional integrity. As FAR, he also represents the university in NCAA and Peach Belt Conference matters, contributing to policy discussions and compliance oversight as part of USCB’s full NCAA Division II membership, achieved in 2025.

A former collegiate wrestler and coach, Dr. LeFavi holds a Ph.D. in Health and Human Performance from Auburn University. Prior to joining USCB, he served as Head of Health Sciences and Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University, where he founded and directed the graduate program in sports medicine. His academic expertise includes coaching education, sport nutrition, and performance science.

Nationally recognized in the fields of fitness and sport science, Dr. LeFavi has taught coaching certification programs for USA Track & Field, USA Weightlifting, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He has also served as science editor for multiple international sport publications and has been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, ESPN, CBS Evening News, and Inside Edition.

At USCB, Dr. LeFavi teaches sports science and sport psychology courses within both the Department of Public Health and Human Services and the Department of Hospitality Management, continuing to mentor and educate students across disciplines.
