Kelly McCombs joined the USCB Athletics staff on August 12, 2021, and serves as the department’s Team Dietitian.
In her role, McCombs provides individualized nutrition assessments and counseling for student-athletes, team-based education on performance and health nutrition, and serves as a key resource for coaches, support staff, and families. She also develops digital content for USCB’s performance nutrition platforms, including the department’s dedicated Instagram page.
In addition to her work with Athletics, McCombs is a Senior Instructor and Academic Advisor in USCB’s Department of Public Health and Human Services, where she teaches both online and in-person nutrition courses.
McCombs holds both a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from The Ohio State University, where she also completed her dietetic internships. She is an active member of both the American Sports and Performance Dietitians Association (ASPDA) and the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB).
McCombs lives on Lady’s Island with her husband, Tim, and their dog, Ash, while their son, Connor, attends the College of Charleston. Alongside her passion for food and nutrition, she enjoys cheering on the Buckeyes, traveling, and exploring the Lowcountry—especially the trails and beaches of Hunting Island State Park.
