Quin Monahan enters his 14th year as Director of Athletics at the University of South Carolina Beaufort in fall 2025.

Appointed in September 2012 as the university’s third Director of Athletics, Monahan has been instrumental in the transformation and sustained growth of USCB Athletics. Most notably, he led the Sand Sharks through the successful transition from the NAIA to full NCAA Division II membership—completed in July 2025—and into the highly competitive Peach Belt Conference.

Under his leadership, USCB has expanded sport offerings, improved athletic facilities, enhanced departmental staffing, and prioritized both academic and athletic excellence. Sand Shark student-athletes have consistently maintained a department-wide GPA above 3.0, while the program has made competitive strides on the field and built strong community and campus engagement.

Monahan’s impact has extended beyond campus through active involvement in national and regional athletic governance. He currently serves as Chair of the Peach Belt Conference Athletics Director Committee for 2025–26 and has previously served on the NACDA Executive Committee. His past leadership roles include the Conference Carolinas ADA Committee, the NAIA Baseball National Selection Committee, and President of the NAIA Athletics Directors Association.

Prior to his time at USCB, Monahan served as Director of Athletics at Belmont Abbey College (2010–12), an NCAA Division II institution near Charlotte, N.C., overseeing 18 varsity and five junior varsity programs and more than 400 student-athletes. There, he focused on departmental alignment, revitalized the Crusader Club, and expanded corporate sponsorships.

From 2001–2010, he held multiple leadership roles at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), including Director of Athletics, Associate Director of Athletics, and Coordinator of Academic Advising. While at SCAD, Monahan played a key advisory role in USCB’s initial launch of intercollegiate athletics and transition into the NAIA and The Sun Conference.

A native of Kansas, Monahan earned his Associate of Arts in Secondary Education from Kansas City Kansas Community College (1988), a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science from Oklahoma Wesleyan University (1990), and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary (1994).

He and his wife, Beth, have two sons—Keegan, who lives in Nashville, and Quin Jr., a senior at Charleston Southern University.
