MIAMI LAKES, FL- The USCB men's golf team tuned up for the upcoming Sun Conference Tournament on Tuesday winning the Bobcat Spring Invitational held at the Don Shula Golf Club in Miami Lakes, Fl after posting a final round 295 giving a Sand Sharks a 54 hole total of 885, four strokes ahead of both St Thomas and Johnson and Wales.
Director of Golf Shane LeBaron was thrilled on how the Sand Sharks handled themselves throughout the tournament saying, “It was fun to see the team come from behind and win. They did a wonderful job of managing themselves especially on today's back nine. This is a big lift as we get ready for the Sun Conference Championships on April 18th and 19th.”
Luke McClellan and
Chris Lane tied for fourth place individually as both posted scores of 220 on the 6982 yard par 72 lay-out. McClellan had a final round 74 to go with Monday's pair of 73's. Lane finished with an even par 72 after posting two 74's on the opening day.
Jack Bingham was the next USCB finisher at 224 (73, 79, 72) completing his final round with a 72.
Jon Pannone was next at 225 shooting scores of 75, 73 and 77 while
George Thacker was the final Sand Shark scorer at 227 with scores of 74, 76, and 77.
The Sand Sharks will travel to the Dye PGA Course in Port St Lucie, FL for the 54 hole Sun Conference Tournament on April 18th and 19th. The winner will receive an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships in May. USCB is ranked third in the most recent national poll.
