CLERMONT, Fla. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort softball team rolled to two more victories Saturday, beating Indiana Tech 2-0 and 14-3 at the National Training Center.

The Sand Sharks (22-2) notched their third consecutive shutout in the first game, as sophomore Kristy Cook (10-0) struck out five in a three-hitter to record her fourth shutout in her last five starts. 

USCB provided just enough offense in support of Cook, as junior first baseman Katie Rietkovich snapped a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fifth and sophomore third baseman Mariaha Sanborn added an insurance run with an RBI single in the sixth.

Sanborn also had a double in the first inning, and Missy Hughes went 2-for-3 to pace the offense.

The Sand Sharks' bats were more potent in the second game, pounding out 14 hits in the blowout, which was ended after five innings because of the mercy rule. 

USCB broke it open with eight runs in the second inning and tacked on six in the third to turn it into a rout. 

Junior shortstop C.J. Browder led the barrage, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, and sophomore Taylor Triplett was 1-for-3 with three RBIs. 

Sanborn had a two-run single in her only at-bat, and sophomore first baseman Maddie Byrd was 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. Rietkovich, Sam Boland, Paige Adams and Chelsey Blasingame also had RBIs.

Freshman Ashlie Layman (4-0) pitched four strong innings to earn the win, and sophomore Caitlin Campbell worked a scoreless fifth. 

The Sand Sharks wrap up their road trip Sunday with a doubleheader at Edward Waters beginning at 1 p.m.
