@USCBSoccer Dominant In Key TSC Win At Florida Memorial

MIRAMAR, Fla. – The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's soccer team used a dominant effort to pick up its first road win of the season Sunday, beating Florida Memorial 6-1 at Vizcaya Park.

Alexandria Radue scored two goals and assisted on another, Alexa Muffley added two goals, and Eryn Decker recorded a goal and two assists to lead the Sand Sharks to their second win in three games.

"I am so happy for the team today," USCB coach Ed Heberling said. "We played well and were patient. It was really hard to get a rhythm with all the stoppages in play in the first half, but the team continued to fight."

The Lions struck first on Petrice Brooks' goal in the fourth minute, but the Sand Sharks answered six minutes later when Hanna Crist assisted on Decker's goal. MJ Orduna scored what proved to be the game-winner off an assist from Decker in the 37th minute as USCB took a 2-1 lead to halftime.

The Sand Sharks broke it open with a flurry of goals in the second half, as Muffley scored twice in a five-minute span and Radue tacked on to goals in rapid succession to put it out of reach.

"Playing against the wind in the first half contained our attack, but we took advantage of the wind in the second half," Heberling said. "It was great to finally score off two set pieces in the second half."

Radue also sparked the attack in the second half, moving up top after playing center back for the first 60 minutes and quickly notching an assist and two goals in a span of less than 12 minutes.

The win gives the Sand Sharks six points in conference play and vaults them into a three-way tie for fourth place in the Sun Conference standings. The top six teams will qualify for the conference tournament. USCB continues conference play at Warner at 6 p.m. Friday before hosting Webber International at 1 p.m. Sunday.

"It's great to come home with another conference victory," Heberling said. "We have a big week coming up. Both games this week are against quality opponents in the hunt for postseason play."
