SAVANNAH, Ga. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team lost 10-2 at NCAA Division II No. 9 Armstrong State on Tuesday.
Zack Holt went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Kyle Thompson added two hits for the Sand Sharks, who took a 1-0 lead in the first but were unable to maintain the momentum.
The Pirates scored single runs in the first and third and broke it open with a three-run fourth. Armstrong tacked on three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Starter Kutler Lane (1-2) took the loss for the Sand Sharks, allowing two runs on six hits over three innings. Paxton Buckner pitched a perfect fifth inning and Blake Drew worked a scoreless ninth for USCB.
USCB's scheduled home game Wednesday against Benedict has been canceled. The Sand Sharks will host Ave Maria for a three-game Sun Conference series beginning with a single game at 3 p.m. Friday.
