LAKELAND, Fla. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team dropped the final game of its three-game Sun Conference series at Southeastern on Saturday, falling 9-6.
Alex Bonilla hit a pinch-hit two-run double in the seventh inning to tied it at 6, but the Fire answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame and held on to claim the series. John Cloyd had two hits and scored twice and Johnny Cole, Zack Saldivar and Michael Johnson each drove in a run for the Sand Sharks.
Gage Roth (2-2) took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in 2 2/3 innings of relief.
The Sand Sharks host Edward Waters for a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Tuesday to wrap up the home portion of their schedule before closing the regular season with a three-game Sun Conference series at Webber International next weekend.
