HARDEEVILLE — The University of South Carolina Beaufort softball team ran its school-record winning streak to 19 games with a 6-1 victory over Brewton-Parker on Wednesday at Richard Gray Sports Complex. 

The second game of the doubleheader was rained out with USCB leading 1-0 through three innings. The contest will not be made up.

Haley Brown had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Sand Sharks' offense. Sam Boland added a two-run single, Maddie Byrd had two hits and an RBI and Marissa Becker and Missy Hughes each added two hits. Kristy Cook (19-2) struck out six and allowed one run and eight hits in a complete game to earn the win. 

Boland broke a scoreless tie with a two-out, two-run single in the third, and Brown and Byrd added run-scoring singles in the fourth. The Sand Sharks pushed across two unearned runs in the fifth on an error and Brown's sacrifice fly. 

The Sand Sharks travel to Southeastern on Saturday for a key Sun Conference doubleheader. USCB (29-8, 10-0) is the only remaining undefeated team in conference play and has a two-game lead over the second-place Fire.
