SAVANNAH, Ga. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team opened its fall season in impressive fashion Tuesday, carding a team score of 9-under-par 279 to claim a 23-shot win over SCAD Savannah in the annual Battle of the Bridge series. 

Seniors Cory Cottrell and Kirk Mitchell shared medalists honors after leading USCB with rounds of 3-under-par 69 at the Club at Savannah Harbor, while sophomore Seth Rockwell was third at 2-under 70 and senior Jud Milam was fourth with a 1-under 71. Senior Brad Curren rounded out the Sand Sharks' lineup with a 75.

The Sand Sharks, who were ranked fifth in the NAIA Top 25 Preseason Coaches Poll, are back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the Coastal Georgia Invitational in St. Simons Island, Ga.
