MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Several program records fell Saturday, as the USCB baseball team routed Florida Memorial 12-1 and 23-0 in a pair of seven-inning victories to complete a sweep of their three-game Sun Conference series.
Justin Kortessis matched the school record with 12 strikeouts in a seven-inning complete game in the first game of the doubleheader, and the Sand Sharks' offense erupted to set new marks for runs (23) and hits (25) in the finale.
GAME 1 – #18 USCB 12, FMU 1
Kortessis became the fourth Sand Shark pitcher – and the second in two days – to record 12 strikeouts in a game, joining Michael Heesch, Julio De Pena, and Wade Arduini, who matched the record in Friday's series opener. Kortessis allowed one run on four hits and one walk.
Kal Davis went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Bobby Wenthe was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and scored twice, and Alex Murphy launched a three-run homer to power the offense.
USCB broke the game open with five runs in the sixth before Murphy added his second homer of the season in the seventh to invoke the 10-run mercy rule.

GAME 2 – #18 USCB 23, FMU 0
Wenthe went 4-for-5 with a three-run blast and tied Erik Armstrong's school record with seven RBIs to lead the way, as 12 USCB players recorded hits and 13 scored runs.
Davis was 3-for-3 with a double and scored four times, Noah Matthews went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored four runs from the leadoff spot, and Charlie McGinnis came off the bench to go 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Murphy added a triple among his two hits and drove in three runs, Nick Payne had two hits and three RBIs, and Tristan Triplett and Mclean Hartz each had two hits.
De Pena pitched five strong innings for the win, allowing two hits with five strikeouts and one walk, and Colin Tindall worked two scoreless frames to complete the shutout.
