@USCBSoftball Splits Doubleheader, Takes Series At #11 Webber

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The USCB softball team split a doubleheader Saturday to claim a key Sun Conference series victory over No. 11 Webber International.

Abby Pac threw a complete game to beat the Warriors for the second straight day in a 3-2 victory in the opener, but Webber International scored in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 7-6 win in the series finale.

GAME 1 – USCB 3, WIU 2

The Sand Sharks did all of their scoring in the third inning, as Alexa Moore put USCB on the board with an RBI single and Natassja Hatcher followed with a two-run single for a 3-0 lead.

The Warriors cut it to 3-2 on Kaitlin Cockroft's two-run homer, but that was the only mistake of the day for Pac, who allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings with three strikeouts.

Hatcher, Moore and Bailee Barker each had two hits for the Sand Sharks.

Bojangles' Player of the Game: Natassja Hatcher (2-for-4, two RBIs)

GAME 2 – WIU 7, USCB 6

The Sand Sharks climbed back from an early 3-0 deficit to take the lead, but Alyssa Householder's RBI triple in the seventh plated the winning run for the Warriors.

Laura Borders cleared the bases with a three-run double in the first to put Webber International on top, but Carrie Cochran's two-run homer in the second and two-run singles from Taylor Boykin and Kayla Boyle in the fourth gave the Sand Sharks a 6-3 advantage.

The Warriors plated three runs in the fourth to tie it, and that's where it remained until Householder's game-winner in the seventh.

Boykin and Marissa Becker each had two hits for USCB.

Bojangles' Player of the Game: Taylor Boykin (2-for-4, run, two RBIs
