FORT MYERS, Fla. – The USCB baseball team's season came to an end with a 4-0 loss to fifth-ranked Keiser on Saturday, eliminating the Sand Sharks from the Sun Conference Championship.
Kal Davis managed the only USCB hit against Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year Daniel Garmendia, who struck out seven and walked five in a one-hit shutout.
Garmendia outdueled USCB senior right-hander Julio De Pena, who racked up 10 strikeouts while allowing four runs (three earned) and 11 hits over seven innings.
The Seahawks grabbed a 1-0 lead on Tivon Faneyte's RBI double in the first and added a pair of runs on RBI singles from Zack Saldivar and Brad Myott in the fourth. Dylan Dore's sacrifice fly in the seventh capped the scoring.
The Sand Sharks finish with a 32-22 record, their sixth 30-win campaign in nine seasons since the program began in 2009.
