Hardeeville, SC-- The offense was alive and well today as the Sand Sharks took care of the Trinity Baptist College Eagles in both games of the double-header, winning 9-0 and 9-1.
Behind freshman pitcher
Maria Molloseau, who was seeing her first career start for USCB, the Sand Sharks put five runs across the plate in the bottom of the first inning to put the game out of reach for the Eagles.
Kylie Kelly hit a 2-run triple, scoring
Taylor Boykin and
Rachel Frankhouser.
Alexa Moore then doubled to bring in Kelly.
Caroline Heaton later doubled to bring in two more runs for the Sand Sharks.
USCB then added two more runs in the bottom of the second and a single run in each of the third and fourth innings to end the game early due to the run rule-- invoked if one team is ahead by eight runs after five innings.
Molloseau picked up her first win as a Sand Shark, going five innings and giving up one hit.
The second game saw USCB jump to the early lead again, going up 1-0 in the bottom of the first when Boyle hit an RBI-single to bring in Frankhouser. USCB added four more runs in the bottom of the second to put the Sand Sharks up for good and on their way to their second win on the afternoon. The run rule was again invoked after
Haley Hawkins was able to score off a fielding error in left field.
In the second game,
Abby Pac picked up the win in the circle going five innings, giving up three hits and one run.
The Sand Sharks will host Brewton-Parker on Monday, February 19 for a double-header beginning at 2 PM.
