Hardeeville, SC-- The USCB softball team went to 12-4 on the season after splitting the double-header with visiting University of Michigan Dearborn this afternoon at the Richard Gray Sports Complex.
USCBÂ found themselves on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision at the end of the first game. Unable to garner the run support needed, freshman
Maria Molloseau pitched the complete game, giving up 4 hits, and 2 runs--both of which came in the first inning. The only run for USCB was knocked in by a
Kaitlyn O'Hearn stand-up double to left field, scoring
Kayla Boyle, who was hit by a pitch earlier in the frame.
Junior ace
Abby Pac went to work in the circle for the Sand Sharks in the second game and went the distance, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, en route to a 8-1 win for the Sand Sharks. Pac earned nine strikeouts in her outing, making that her highest strikeout count in a single game this season. Pac was able to strike out 7 batters in each of her games against Piedmont International and Trinity Baptist earlier this year.
At the plate in the second game,
Rachel Frankhouser went 3-3 with 2 runs scored. Five other Sand Sharks went 1-3, including Boyle andÂ
Crystal Owens who had two RBI's each.
The team will now prepare to head to Clermont, Florida March 2-4 to take part in the PFX Spring Games. They will face Mount Vernon Nazarene (OH) and Cleary University on Friday, March 2 and then will see Hannibal-Lagrange University and Bellevue University on Sunday, March 4.
