Hardeeville, SC-- The USCB softball team fell to Sun Conference foe College of Coastal Georgia this evening at Richard Gray, losing 3-5 and 1-6.
The Sand Sharks found themselves down five runs in the second inning of the first game before the bats went silent for three innings. The USCB offense popped for a short time when the Sand Sharks were able to score one in the sixth inning when
Taylor Boykin was brought home by a
Natassja Hatcher RBI-single through the left side USCBÂ was able to score two more runs in the bottom of the seventh when
Carrie Cochran hit an RBI-single to center field, scoring
Rachel Frankhouser.
Caroline Heaton was able to add the third run when she knocked in Boykin off her RBI-single up the middle.
In the second game the Sand Sharks were able to plate only one run when
Melina Martinez hit a stand-up double to left center that brought Frankhouser home.
USCB will look to bounce back this weekend at Webber International (Fla.) in the double-header schedule for Saturday, March 17 at 12 pm.
