Lakeland, FL-- The USCB softball team was unable to take a game from the Sun Conference's first place team, Southeastern University, yesterday evening.
USCBÂ fell behind The Fire by three runs through the first two innings of game one as they struggled to find hits at the plate, going just 3-22. The Sand Sharks were able to make it interesting in the top of the sixth inning when
Kaitlyn O'Hearn stepped into the box and delivered a two-run shot to left field to pull the team within two.
Abby Pac pitched all six innings, giving up one earned run on four hits while striking out eight. Pac now has 96 strikeouts on the year--good enough for third place in The Sun Conference.
Some defensive miscues in game two didn't help the Sand Shark cause-- a game in which
Maria Molloseau threw six innings, giving up seven hits, six runs (0 earned), walking four and striking out two.
USCB will look to rebound into the win column this week when they visit Brewton-Parker College Tuesday afternoon for a double-header at 1 pm. The Sand Sharks will then celebrate Protect & Serve Day at Richard Gray in Hardeeville next weekend as they host Warner University (Fla.) for a big Sun Conference double-header. Warner is currently sitting in second place in conference standings with a 9-3 record in TSC play.
