HOW IT HAPPENED
Southeastern started the contest quickly, as Uchenna Kanu made history on the game's first goal in the fourth minute. With Kanu's goal off of a corner, she broke the NAIA women's soccer all-time goals scored record. With the record-breaking performance, she gave her team the early 1-0 lead.
The nationally-ranked team continued to attack the USCB net and eventually doubled its lead in the 24th minute, as Aisha Solorzano tallied SEU's second goal.Â
Three minutes later the Fire again found the net, as Kanu added to her season tally.
After making several tactical changes, USCB's second half was strong. In the first 10 minutes of the second stanza, the Sand Sharks had three quality chances to score. Two of those chances were taken by Lindo, who hit the post and cross bar.Â
Despite attacking the net for the opening 15 minutes, Southeastern responded with three unanswered goals in a three-minute span. The Fire again added insurance in the 72nd minute, when Katelyn Edwards scored off a corner kick.
The Sand Sharks didn't cave though, as they took three shots with two on frame in the final few minutes. However, it wasn't enough, as the Fire claimed the road win.Â
