COLUMBIA, S.C. - Behind nine extra-base hits and 25 total hits on Saturday, the USCB softball team swept Columbia International, 15-0 and 10-3, at the CIU Softball Field.
Kayla Boyle had five total hits and five RBIs, while several other Sand Sharks collected multiple hits in the doubleheader sweep of the Rams.

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED
The scoring opened in the second inning, as Boyle roped a double to deep right center field. The extra-base hit cleared the bases and gave USCB the early 3-0 lead.Â
After a scoreless bottom of the second inning, USCB added two more runs in the third off Martin's bat. Martin cracked a two-RBI single to center to score Hatcher and Haley Hawkins.
The Sand Shark offense then exploded for six runs off six hits in the fourth. Boyle tallied a run-scoring hit, and Canyon Crosby grounded out to allow Boyle to touch home. Up 7-0, Shania Domingue scored on a fielding error, and Martin tallied another RBI hit to advance the lead to nine. To end the six-run inning, Hatcher scored on a bases-loaded walk, and Boyle recorded her second run-scoring hit of the frame.
USCB didn't stop there, as it added four more runs in the top of the fifth to move the lead to 15-0.
CIU tried to plate runs in the final frame, but the Rams left two on base and suffered the 15-run loss.Â

HOW GAME TWO HAPPENED
After stranding two runners on base in the first two innings, USCB plated the game's first run in the top of the third. Domingue cracked a double to left center, which scored Boykin from first base.
An inning later, the Sand Sharks tripled their lead, as Moore crushed a two-run bomb to left to push the advantage to 3-0.Â
The USCB lead quickly dissipated in the fourth, as Columbia International's Madison Janning snuck a three-run homer over the fence in center.
The Sand Sharks didn't mess around in the fifth, as it regained the lead. Crosby and Kylie Kelly each tallied a sacrifice fly, and Moore capped off the frame with a RBI single to make the game 6-2.Â
After a scoreless sixth, USCB added four insurance runs in the seventh to advance the lead to 10-2. Crosby started the offense with a RBI double. After back-to-back walks, Hawkins touched home off a fielding error, and Kelley scored off a groundout from Martin.
Crosby finished the game in the circle for the Sand Sharks, and she stranded a leadoff hit to seal the 10-3 win.

The Sand Sharks will now turn their attention to conference rival Webber. The two clubs will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 24 in Babson Park, Fla. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
