BLUFFTON, S.C. - Behind Marcela Shartouny's two goals and Aurya Downey's three-assist performance, the USCB women's soccer team collected its first shutout win of the season, 3-0, over Warner at Fin Land Field on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half started back-and-forth for both squads, as they traded shots in the first seven minutes. In the eighth minute, USCB ripped a shot on frame, as Kaeser made the WU goalkeeper stop the shot on goal.
From the 26th to 36th minute, the Sand Sharks maintained most of the possession, as it connected with six shots (four on goal) during that stretch.
In the 37th minute, USCB finally rippled the net, as Shartouny tallied the game's first goal. USCB collected a corner, and Downey took the set piece. She connected with a left-footed cross to the near post, and Shartouny redirected the pass into the open net. The goal gave the Sand Sharks the 1-0 lead.
Just four minutes later, USCB doubled its lead when Shartouny found the back of the net for her second goal of the game. Navie Webb ripped a shot for USCB, and the attempt hit the crossbar. Shartouny found the rebound and flicked the ball into the open net to take the 2-0 advantage.
After the 15-minute, halftime break, the Sand Sharks quickly made the game 3-0, when Foshee posted her first career goal. Following a goal kick, Downey worked behind her defender on the left side. She connected with a through ball to Foshee at the 18-yard box. Warner's goalkeeper started the pressure Foshee, but the Sand Shark flicked the ball around the goalkeeper to give USCB the three-goal advantage.
After taking its three-goal lead, USCB didn't take a shot for the final 41 minutes. Warner found some offensive success after the 70th minute, as it recorded four shots (two on goal) and four corners. However, the Royals couldn't cut into the deficit, as they fell 3-0 to USCB.

Since USCB's contest versus Florida Memorial has been postponed, the Sand Sharks next contest is slated for Saturday, Oct. 17, when USCB hosts St. Thomas. The league game is slated for a noon start.
