LAKELAND, Fla. - The USCB women's soccer team gave it a valiant effort in the Sun Conference Semifinals on Tuesday night, but top-ranked Southeastern narrowly edged the Sand Sharks, 1-0, at SEU Soccer Field to end USCB's postseason run.
Inside The Box Score

Alana Dame - 90 minutes in net, 10 saves, one goal allowed
Marcela Shartouny - two shots, one shot on goal
Sydnee Metzold - one shot, one shot on goal
How It Happened
Southeastern started to find momentum at the eighth minute when it collected six corners and 13 shots for the next 31 minutes. Of the 13 shots during that 31-minute span, Dame had to make six saves to hold on to the clean sheet.
USCB stopped the momentum in the 40th minute, when it started to pepper the SEU goal. Kalvatn ripped a shot wide, and in the 42nd minute, USCB had a pair of key chances at goal. However, both shots were blocked by the Southeastern defense.
For the remaining of the first half, neither team found the back of the net, as it was tied 0-0 at the halftime break.
The second half was a battle between both squads. USCB connected with four shots (two on frame) in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.
Countering USCB's attack, Southeastern also began to attack the Sand Shark net, and in the 73rd minute, the Fire broke the scoreless tie. Aisha Solorzano, who hasn't played since Oct. 28, netted the goal off a cross from her teammate.
With just 17 minutes left, USCB didn't have a solid chance at net, but neither did Southeastern, as the semifinal contest ended 1-0.
