BLUFFTON, S.C. - USCB athletics has yet another busy week, as all six spring sports will be in action from Feb. 10-16.
Women's Golf - Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational
USCB women's golf opens its 2020 slate with a trip to Saint Simons, Ga. The two-day tournament is hosted by Sun Conference rival Coastal Georgia and will be held at the King and Prince Golf Course. Both days will consist of 18-hole rounds.
Senior Blanca Porta had a strong fall season, as she finished the fall with a 75.60 scoring average. She finished inside the top 10 in all four fall events, including a fall-best tied for fourth at the Terrier Intercollegiate.
Deliah Prescha had the second-best fall for the Sand Sharks, as the fellow senior finished with a 79.60 scoring average. She collected a top-5 finish at the Roadrunner Invitational, as she shot a 227 (78-79-73) at the Dalton State tournament.
Men's Golf - Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational
USCB men's golf will join the women's club at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational, as the Sand Sharks travel down to Saint Simons for the two-day tournament. The men's team will also play 18 holes on both days.
Sophomore Jacob Thomas paces the men's team in scoring average, as he boasts a 73.42 18-hole average. The Canada native started his fall season red hot by winning the Tri-Match versus SCAD and Coastal Georgia with a round score of 68. He then collected back-to-back top-4 finishes at the Invite at Innisbrook and the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational.
Transfer Dawson Peters made an immediate impact on the team, as he has the second-lowest scoring average for the fall. The junior finished in the top 21 in all five fall events, including two tied for 8th finishes at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational and the Dave Adamonis Sr. Invitational.
Men's and Women's Track and Field - Queens Multis
USCB men's and women's track and field will send several athletes to Charlotte, N.C. to compete in the Queens Multis. The meet is two days in length, but USCB will only send runners on the Tuesday portion of the meet.
The Sand Sharks are sending three athletes to compete in the pentathlon - Jaslyn Joseph, Courtney Sherry and Ja'milyea Poole. The trio of Sand Sharks will compete in the 60m hurdles, 800m, high jump, shot put and long jump.
In USCB's last meet (Carolina Challenge), the Sand Sharks had several impressive results at the indoor meet. Kadari Mitchell finished ninth in the 60m, while Nigel Davis finished 34th in the men's jump. Tewodros Eckstein and JJustin Dolata also made their debuts in track and field, as they both ran in the men's 3k and 5k.
Baseball - Doubleheader Versus Columbia International (Feb. 11) and Three-Game Series Versus Florida Memorial (Feb. 14-15)
USCB baseball will play five games at Richard Gray Stadium this week. The Sand Sharks open the week with a doubleheader versus CIU on Tuesday, Feb. 11 beginning at 1 p.m. The squad will then open Sun Conference play on Friday, Feb. 14 with a three-game set versus Florida Memorial. The Sand Sharks and Lions will conclude the series on Saturday, Feb. 15 at noon.

The Sand Shark offense is led by transfer Leandy Castro, who has started all four games this year. He has collected seven hits, including four doubles. He has also totaled two RBIs and two runs scored.
Alexander Humphrey has had success in the starting lineup and off the bench, as the sophomore has three hits in six at-bats. He has a team-leading three RBIs so far in 2020.
Tristan Triplett and Noah Matthews are also hitting at or above .300 this year at .444 and .300, respectively. The Sand Shark duo have combined for seven hits, four runs, one double, one triple and three RBIs.
On the mound, Eamonn Collins and Harrison Bell lead the starting rotation with 2.57 ERAs. They have both twirled seven innings each, allowed five hits and just two runs have scored. Collins paces the team in strikeouts with nine this year.
Out of the bullpen, Cam Mathis, Chase Litchfield and Javier Saenz have tossed over an inning of relief this year and have yet to allow a run. Caleb Clark, who has pitched in one game, struck out the side in his first outing of the 2020 season.
Softball - Doubleheader Versus Savannah State (Feb. 11) and Doubleheader at Middle Georgia State (Feb. 15)
USCB softball is off to another hot start, as it is 6-0 on the 2020 season. The Sand Sharks have swept three straight doubleheaders, including winning four games on Saturday and Sunday this past weekend.

Five Sand Sharks are hitting above .300 this year - Jodi Hatcher, Taylor Boykin, Emily Martin, Hoolie Garcia and Haley Hawkins. Garcia leads the team with a .500 batting average, as she has collected three hits in six at-bats. With at least 13 at-bats, Hatcher leads the team with a .471 clip. The freshman has a team-best eight hits to go along with two RBIs and one run scored. Martin has seven hits on the year, which includes a team-leading four doubles. Hawkins has a .308 batting average with a team-best six RBIs, and Boykin paces the squad with nine runs scored to go along with her .429 batting average.
In the circle, Maria Molloseau has been a force, as she has won all three games she has started. She has pitched 19 innings and has allowed just two earned runs, 0.74 ERA. She has a team-best 13 strikeouts, which was highlighted by a six-strikeout performance versus St. Andrews on Sunday.
Caitlin Toole has been strong out of the bullpen, as she leads the team with two saves. She has twirled 8.2 frames and has allowed one earned run.
