HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Despite a late rally in game one and eight runs in the second contest, USCB baseball dropped both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday, 6-3 and 10-8, to non-conference rival Point at Richard Gray Stadium.

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED
USCB and Point were scoreless for the first two innings, but the scoring opening in the third frame, as Skyhawks plated three runs in the top of the inning.Â
USCB responded in the home half of the third with a run, as Justin Owen scored on a passed ball with one out.Â
Point added a trio of insurance runs, as it took advantage of two errors in the four frame. Kevin Howard scored on a failed pickoff attempt, and Ryan Leno connected with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Dillon Brown capped off the scoring with a solo homer.
The Sand Shark offense didn't cave, as it tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. Matthews made some two-out magic, as he cracked a two-run triple, and the hit brought the deficit to three, 6-3.
USCB tried to mount a comeback in the seventh, but the offense was set down in order.

HOW GAME TWO HAPPENED
The second game was different, as the scoring opened early and often. USCB scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first when Humphrey connected with a RBI double.Â
Point took its first lead of the contest with solo runs in both the second and third innings.
The Sand Shark offense then erupted for six runs off six hits in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead. Morgan started the rally with a two-run double to left center. After a pitching change, Triplett smoked a single to score Owen. Humphrey earned another RBI on a sac fly, and Milhan capped off the scoring with a two-RBI single to center.Â
Just two innings later, the Skyhawks regained the lead, as they struck for seven runs in the sixth inning.Â
USCB had a chance to mount a comeback in the bottom of the sixth, as Castro and Humphrey led off the inning with back-to-back hit by pitches. However, they were left stranded on base.Â
