HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Three Sand Sharks collected multiple hits on Sunday morning, but the USCB baseball team fell in the rubber match, 6-3, in 10 innings to Bryant & Stratton at Richard Gray Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
USCB's offense nearly broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the first, as the Sand Sharks forced the bases loaded with two outs. USCB couldn't plate a run, as the game stayed scoreless for the next two innings.Â
The Sand Shark offense ended the skid in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run frame. Matthews started the inning with a single, and Marino Sorbara followed with a single of his own. Two outs later, Triplett scored Matthews on a throwing error by the Bobcat second baseman. Smith followed with a double, and Triplett touched home via another throwing error by a Bobcat. Castro finished the scoring for USCB with a double to score Justin Owen, who pinch ran for Smith.Â
After a scoreless fifth inning, Bryant & Stratton tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the sixth. Emerson Gomez and Michael Santos collected run-scoring hits in the frame for BSC.Â
USCB had runners on base in three innings of the next four innings (sixth to ninth innings), but it couldn't break the 3-3 tie, which forced extra innings in the series finale.
The Bobcats jumped ahead, 6-3, in the top of the 10th thanks to two hits and a pair of errors.
The Sand Sharks couldn't overcome the deficit in extras, as they fell by three runs.

WHAT'S NEXT?
USCB will play five games next week, including a pair of mid-week, non-conference games. The Sand Sharks will kick off the week at Savannah State at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10. To conclude the non-conference slate will be a home contest at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 versus St. Andrews.
