Women's Soccer - at Webber International and at Florida College

The USCB women's soccer team will play its first spring game following a 5-6 fall slate. The Sand Sharks bowed out of the Sun Conference Tournament Semifinals, where they put up a valiant effort, 1-0, against the eventual Sun Conference Champions - Southeastern.

Kicking off the spring schedule will be a date against WIU, and the clubs have already met twice in 2020. The Sand Sharks dominated the Warriors, 4-1, in the season opener at home but fell, 1-0, to WIU on the road. The Sand Sharks had four different goal scorers - Madeline Matusik, Marcela Shartouny, Lexi Kaeser and Allison Schaffer - in the three-goal, season-opening win.

To end the two-game week, USCB will face off for the first time ever in the regular season against Florida College. FC played four games in the fall, all of which were against Sun Conference schools. The Falcons' lone win in the fall was a 2-1 victory over Warner to end the fall portion of their schedule.

The game at Webber International will be streamed on The Sun Conference Digital Network, and that link can be found by clicking HERE. Live stats for the road contest can be found by clicking HERE. Florida College has not released if the non-conference game is being broadcasted yet.

Women's Golf - at Battle At Old South

After playing in three events in the fall, the USCB women's golf team will open its spring portion of the schedule in a NCAA DI event - the Battle at Old South. Co-hosting the event with USCB is Cincinnati, and the event will be held at Oldfield Golf Club - USCB's home course.

Sophomore Kayla Ramsey leads the women's team in scoring average, as she boasts a 79.00 mark. Her lowest score of the year was a 77, which came in the first round of the year - TWU Fall Invitational. She ended up finishing fourth in that tournament.

Right behind her in scoring average is rookie Ashleigh Mead, as she totes a 83.10 mark. She posted back-to-back tied for fifth finishes to commence her college career. Her season-best mark was a 76 outing in the first round of the TWU Fall Invitational.

Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field - at KMS Open

The men's and women's indoor track and field teams have been busy in the early part of the spring session, as both squads have competed in two meets this year - Warrior Invitational and the KMS Invitational.

Headlining the results was a fourth-place finish from junior sprinter Kadari Mitchell in the 60m, as well as the first-place victory from the men's distance medley relay.

The KMS Open is a one-day meet and will be held on Jan. 31. The meet will again be held in Birmingham insid the CrossPlex Athletic Facility. Results will also be available by clicking HERE.

Baseball - Doubleheader vs. Milligan (Columbia, S.C.)

Following a shortened 2020 campaign, the USCB baseball team will return to the diamond with a non-conference doubleheader on Jan. 30. USCB will face off with Milligan in a neutral-site game in Columbia, S.C. at CIU Baseball's field. Game one is tentatively set for 1 p.m.

The Sand Sharks have a slew of seniors on the 2021 roster - 20. Headlining the seniors returning from last year are Leandy Castro, Tavaris Terrell, Clint Sellers, Matt Malatesta, Eamonn Collins and Donavan Huneck. Castro was second on the team last year with a .382 batting average in 17 starts. Terrell started 13 of the 17 games in the hot corner, while Sellers tallied eight hits and seven RBIs. Huneck only pitched in one game, but he twirled five shutout innings.

Softball - Doubleheader vs. Columbia International

Similar to baseball, the USCB softball team returns to the diamond after a COVID-shortened 2020 season. The Sand Sharks started the season hot winning eight straight games against Montreat, CIU, St. Andrews and Savannah State. They ended the shortened season on a high note, as they upended Coastal Georgia, 8-5, in Hardeeville thanks to two three-hit games from Jodi Hatcher and Amber Locasto. Maria Molloseau also worked three innings en route to earning the save.

USCB also brings in a plethora of upperclassman experience - eight seniors - but also brought in 12 fresh faces to the 2021 roster. Of the eight seniors, Rachel Frankhouser, Molloseau, Shania Domingue, Bri Dunn and Kaleigh Furbush headline the class. Frankhouser started all 22 games and finished the year with 17 walks and five stolen bases. Dunn played in 18 games last year, while Furbush played in 16 games and toted a .262 batting average. Molloseau was a workhorse last year, as she pitched in 15 games and went 5-8 with a 1.78 ERA and a .99 WHIP. She also struck out 61 batters in 78.2 innings.

The two games at Richard Gray Stadium will be streamed on the Sand Shark Gameday Network, and that link can be found by clicking HERE. Live stats for the home contests can be found by clicking HERE.

As a team, USCB opened the two-day tournament with a stellar 285 team score, which is a team-low in 2020-21.

USCB has a trio of golfers that have stellar scoring averages this year - Thomas, Peters and Fox. Thomas totes a 72.91 scoring average with his season-low 66 coming in the first round of the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational. Peters has a 74.18 average, while Fox has a 74.27 scoring mark.
