BLUFFTON, S.C. - Sophomore Mari Kalvatn had a historic day in the 11-0 win over Edward Waters on Friday, Feb. 26 at Fin Land Field. The Norway native totaled five goal and two assists, which set two new school records in goals scored and points accumulated in a single game (12).
Recent graduate Anna Gignilliat held the previous school record, as she posted two 4-goal games last season (eight points) - most recently a four-goal game against Sun Conference rival Warner on Oct. 9, 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first seven minutes of the contest were even-keel, but USCB broke that stretch in the eighth minute when Kaeser tallied the game-opening goal.
From there on, USCB dominated possession in the first spring home game, as it connected with nine shots in the next 14-minute span. Brodersen doubled the Sand Shark lead in the 22nd minute, as she recorded her second goal of the 2020-21 campaign.
Just three minutes later, Webb also joined the scoresheet, as the Sand Sharks took the commanding 3-0 lead.
USCB started to become efficient with shooting, as the next two shots came in the 32nd and 40th minute. Both of those shots found the netting, as Webb and Wood each tallied the goals.
At the halftime break, USCB was holding a 15-2 advantage in shots.
The second half wasn't different from the end of the first, as the Sand Sharks really became efficient with their shooting. Spearheading the efficiency was a 20-minute tear from sophomore Kalvatn.
The Norway native was unstoppable, as she recorded all five of her goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half (45th to 65th minutes). During that stretch she took six shots with five of those being goals.
Up by 10 goals, Matusik scored USCB's final goal of the match in the 69th minute to seal the 11-0 win.
Overall, USCB totaled 33 shots and put 19 on goal en route to the 11-0 shutout.

USCB will next play a scrimmage at home on March 14, as it will host South Georgia State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
