HOW IT HAPPENED
After two uneventful innings, the USCB offense woke up in the third with a very crooked number - nine runs. Terrell, Clint Sellers and Meyer started the inning with three straight singles. On Meyer's single, Terrell touched home on a throwing error, and Meyer and Sellers followed with a successful double-steal to take the 2-0 lead. Castro and Russ followed with two hits of their own to take the four-run lead. After a Humphrey single, Milhan cracked a two RBI double to push the game to 6-0. Kaden Geelen plated a run on a ground out, and Terrell reached on an error to score Wesley Ambrose. Up 8-0, Russ collected a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to push the lead to 9-0.Â
After a hitless fourth inning, both ball clubs exchanged a run in the fifth. Daniel Caylor scored the run for AMU, while Castro tallied the sacrifice fly to make the contest 10-1.
After leaving a Gyrene on base in the top of the sixth, USCB pushed the lead to double-digits, 12-1, with a pair of runs in the home half of the inning. Terrell smoked a RBI single, and Jack Slavin earned a RBI off a bases-loaded walk. Â
Minick continued to mow down the Gyrene lineup, as he worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning. In five of the seven innings, Minick struck out least two AMU batters.
