Baseball Scores First, Falls Late In Series Finale to RV Warner

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Despite taking the early lead, the USCB baseball team fell late, 6-3, to RV (receiving votes) Warner on Saturday afternoon at Royals Stadium.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Brian Meyer - 1-for-4, solo home run

Jake Tanner - 1-for-2, double, one RBI

Alexander Humphrey and Nick Milhan - one single and one run each

Blaize Minick - 2.1 innings, four hits, one earned run, two strikeouts

HOW IT HAPPENED

USCB's offense started red hot with solo runs in both the first and second innings. Meyer cracked his first home run of the season, solo blast to right field, and Tanner scored Humphrey in the second off a RBI double.

Warner took its first lead of the contest in the home half of the third with a trio of runs.

The Sand Sharks quickly answered in the top of the fourth with another one-run inning to knot the contest at 3-all. Milhan was able to score on a wild pitch to account for the run.

After a scoreless fifth, the Royals added the go-ahead run in the sixth and added two more runs in the eighth to take the 6-3 advantage.

The Sand Shark offense had trouble in the final portion of the game, as only two players reached base - a walk and an error.
