Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Chloe Turner ripped what ended up being the game-winning RBI with a double in the fifth putting the Sand Sharks up 5-4 and USCB scored four unanswered runs to knock off No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan 8-4 Tuesday afternoon.
Daryn Miller capped a three hit, two RBI performance by recording the final out of the game and continued to amaze out in center field, making another sensational defensive grab.
Addie Reynolds finished the day 1-for-2 with two runs driven in while Jaci Coleman and Amber Locasto both one hit apiece.
Caylee Busbee started for the Sand Sharks going three innings, giving up four hits and allowing three earned runs. Cierra Kinlaw relieved Busbee, pitching four innings without allowing a run to get the win.
IWU opened the bottom of the first by putting the first two runners on, after a stolen base put runners in scoring position, Ashton Whitman doubled down the left field line putting the Wildcats up 2-0.
The Sand Sharks loaded the bases in the third and a Reynold's sac fly cut the lead in half. A wild pitch allowed Miller to score, putting USCB right back into the game. Busbee was one out away from getting the shut down inning, but an errant throw allowed the Wildcats to retake the lead.
USCB continued to grind, loading the bases for the second consecutive inning and Miller put the Sand Sharks up 4-3 after lacing a two RBI single to center.
The back-and-forth battle continued as pinch-hitter Makenna Waddell blooped a game-tying single against Kinlaw who relieved Busbee after the first two runners reached to open the frame.
Turner ripped an RBI double to the right centerfield gap to put the Sand Sharks back on top and she would come around to score on a wild pitch later in the inning giving USCB its largest lead of the afternoon at two.
The lead would increase to four the next inning after the Sand Sharks loaded the bases for the third time in four innings and Mackenzie Freeman recorded a sacrifice fly and Reynolds drove in another run with an infield single.
Kinlaw kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard the last three innings and left two runners on as USCB kept its tournament hopes alive and will face Madonna later tonight. First pitch is tentatively scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight, weather permitting.
