Miller's four hits, Walter's three RBI not enough as USCB falls to Eagles

HARDEEVILLE — Hunter Miller went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and Andrew Walters knocked in three with two hits, but Embry-Riddle scored 14 runs on 18 hits to defeat USCB 14-10 Wednesday afternoon in Hardeeville.

The Sand Sharks used a bullpen game on the mound, using five pitchers. Devin Marlow got the nod and worked two innings allowing four runs. Avery Sikes (0-1) followed and took the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits.

Embry-Riddle jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after scoring two runs in the first two innings, however, USCB clawed its way back to within two after Walters two run single. The Eagles added a solo run in the top of third, but the Sand Sharks bottom third of the lineup fed the top as Brian Meyer and  Seth Robinson each recorded sac flies that were sandwiched by a Nikko Andre and Hudson Morgan run scoring base knock, giving Beaufort a one-run lead.

ERAU answered right back in the top of the fifth thanks to Timo Aracena's three-run homer and then added two more runs in the sixth and seventh. Miller ripped a two-run single to right in the bottom half of the inning making it a two-run ball game. Carson Tillotson entered and worked a scoreless eighth, but the Eagles dropped a four spot in the top of the ninth. Walters reached on a fielder's choice and John Leland singled home another, and the tying run was left on base to end the game.

USCB continues Peach Belt play this weekend against North Georgia starting Friday with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
