Sand Sharks bats cold in game one, drop offensive showdown in game two

HARDEEVILLE -- Brian Meyer and Seth Robinson both had three hits and multi-RBI performances in the night cap, but Georgia College took both ends of the doubleheader 13-3 and 16-10 over the Sand Sharks Friday night at the Richard Gray Sports Complex in Hardeeville.

USCB got on the board in the first with a Sebastian Biggs sac fly, but Georgia College put together back-to-back big innings in the third and fourth to jump out to a 10-run lead after scoring a solo run on in the second. The Bobcats added two more in the sixth on a balk and bases loaded hit by pitch. Tucker Czech brought home a run with a ground out and then Tanner Wagnon ripped an RBI single up the middle to make it 13-3, but Gage Kirkland flied out to end game one.

GSCU pushed across three runs in the top of the first, but Beaufort trimmed the lead to one after Meyer reached on an infield single and another run came in to score on an RBI groundout. USCB then exploded for six runs, sending 11 batters to the plate in the inning. Meyer and Biggs each collected their second RBI of the night and Robinson pushed across a run helping extend the lead. The Bobcats answered with six runs of their own the next half inning, but the Sand Sharks counted with two more courtesy of Meyer and Robinson. The Bobcats went on to score seven unanswered runs from the sixth inning on and took game two 16-10.
Game three of the series will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. as regularly scheduled.
