Galassi powers USCB to series sweep of Panthers

ORANGEBURG -- Senior centerfielder Julian Galassi led USCB's power department Saturday afternoon as the Sand Sharks hit four home runs in the doubleheader sweep of the Panthers at Historic Mirmow Field. 

Game One
The Sand Sharks broke the game early as Galassi cranked a grand slam in the first inning to jump out to an early 4-0 lead. Tyler Kennedy made it 5-0 after tripling to right field. The offense continued to explode scoring four more runs over the next two innings. Galassi added a sacrifice fly and then Brian Meyer and Hunter Miller added run scoring hits. Beaufort broke the game wide open in the a seven-run sixth. Miller hit his first homer of the season in the seventh after the first two base runners reached and the Sand Sharks tacked on another run to make it 20-0. Brandon Martin (2-4) shut the Panthers down in the seventh to earn the complete game victory. 

Game Two
The bats stayed hot in game two, scoring five runs in the second as Meyer, Miller and Jake Tanner all had RBIs during the second inning. USCB tacked on another seven runs from innings 3-5 highlighted by Aiden Driscoll-Sadusky's homer to right and Galassi's second long ball of the day. After a scoreless two innings, the Sand Sharks added a single run in the eighth and dropped a six-spot in the ninth to win 19-6. 

Beaufort returns to Hardeeville on Friday to start its final home series of the season against Flagler. The series opener is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
