Rengardt claims individual title, Sand Sharks finish second in Savannah

SAVANNAH -- Erik Rengardt and Aaron Williams both shot under par in Saturday's first two rounds at the Savannah Intercollegiate helping put USCB in prime position to push for its second team win of the season.

The Sand Sharks are currently in second place at 15-under, sitting three shots behind the leader Longwood.

Rengardt stormed atop the leaderboard in the first round shooting 7-under while recording eight birdies including a 6-under back nine. The freshman out of Stockholm finished his second round carding four more birdies and finishing 1-under and will start Sunday's final round tied for the lead at 8-under.

Williams also impressed during the first round posting a 4-under 68. He began his round with six straight pars before collecting consecutive birdies on 16 and 17. After a bogey on 18, he would go on to shoot under par for the next three holes and then circled sixth birdie of the round on the par 5 7th. He moved into the second round and shot 3-under on the back nine and 1-over on the front and he'll head into Sunday's final round tied for fourth.

Nikolai Holme finished his two rounds sitting at 2-under after carding a 3-under first and 1-over second round. Ellis Bright and Nicolas Normand both finished five over after Saturday's 36 holes.

Eric Nord and Alfie Reynolds, playing as individuals both finished at 2-over.

The tournament continues tomorrow morning with an 8 a.m. tee time.
