Williams leads Sand Shark foursome at Thomas Sharkey

STATESBORO -- Aaron Williams made up for a tough first round while shooting a combined 2-under during the final 36 holes to lead a foursome of Sand Sharks at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate this weekend at the Georgia Southern Golf Course.

Sophomore's Nikolai Holme (8-over, T33) and Ellis Bright (10-over, T39) had strong performances while Erik Rengardt rounded out the Sand Sharks competitors with a 65th over all finish.

Williams finished with an 80 in Saturday's first round, but improved by 10 strokes in the second round that afternoon carding a 2-under 70. He recorded five birdies during the round and had a bogey free back nine. On Sunday, he began his round with consecutive bogeies on holes 2 and 3, but finished the front nine even par after birdies on number 4 and 9. He'd finish his round with an even 36 on the back nine.

Holme finished round one with a 1-over score which included a trio of birdies after making the turn. In the second round, he picked up four birdies but had rough stretch between holes 12-16 where he bogied three of the five holes in that span. The Stockholm native carded two birdies Sunday and went into the clubhouse with a 4-over final round score.

Bright who led the Sand Sharks in last year's tournament notched back-to-back 74 scores in Saturday's first two rounds and finished up with a 78 on Sunday. Rengardt sandwiched a 79 between two rounds in the 80s.
