Sand Sharks fall in doubleheader to GCSU

HARDEEVILLE -- USCB battled hard in both games of their doubleheader against Georgia College but came up short, falling 8-4 in game one and 4-3 in game two at Richard Gray Sports Complex.

GAME ONE
The Sand Sharks started strong in the first game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning thanks to a three-run home run from Jaden Goodwin. Addie Reynolds contributed at the plate with two doubles and an RBI, helping USCB maintain momentum early.

However, Georgia College turned the tide in the fifth inning, launching a four-run surge to take the lead. The Bobcats' offense was fueled by home runs from Sydney Lancaster and Kam Caldwell, putting pressure on USCB's pitching staff.

Starter Madison Murphy tossed 4.2 innings, allowing six runs, three earned on four hits while striking out five, but issuing six walks.

GAME TWO
In the second game, USCB stayed competitive throughout but couldn't hold off a late push by Georgia College. The Sand Sharks held a 2-0 lead through four innings, with Reynolds adding to her strong day at the plate with a homer and sac fly.

Georgia College tied the game with a two-run fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. USCB fought back in the bottom of the seventh with a run, after Goodwin's RBI double but the comeback fell short when Taelor Chang grounded out to end the game.

Cierra Kinlaw took the loss, throwing 5.1 innings allowing three runs on 12 hits with four punchouts.

The Sand Sharks hit the road to the Sunshine State for a midweek doubleheader against Embry-Riddle and then resume conference play this weekend against Flagler.
