ALBANY, GEORGIA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) men's golf team wrapped up its second invitational of the fall season with a strong showing, finishing fourth overall in a 15-team field at the Hurricane Invitational. The event was hosted by Georgia Southwestern at Doublegate Country Club.
The Sand Sharks posted a team score of 872 (+8), matching their first-round total of 293 in the final round. With the best round in the second with a 286. Florida Southern claimed the team title with an overall score of 858 (-6). Tampa's Mohit Balaji topped the individual leader board at -5, edging out USCB's Octavio Laurent, who finished second at -4.
Laurent led the way for USCB, carding a 69 (-3) in the final round to match his second-round score, which is his lowest of the season. He recorded 13 birdies throughout the tournament, the second-most in the field, along with 33 pars.
Nikolai Holme also had a strong performance with a top five spot, finishing fifth overall at -3. His best round came in the second, where he shot a 69 (-3). Holme's three-round total was 213 (73-69-71), including one eagle, 11 birdies and 32 pars. The 69 in round two marked his lowest round of the season.
Alfie Reynolds placed 49th with a three-round total of 227. His best performance came in the second round, where he posted a season-low 73. Reynolds tallied 30 pars and eight birdies during the invitational.
Dylan Allen finished 56th overall with a total score of 229 (74-79-76). He recorded 30 pars and nine birdies across the three rounds.
Christofer Hammar placed 58th, ending the tournament with a total of 230 (72-75-83). His opening round 72 was his lowest score of the season. Hammar contributed five birdies and 32 pars to the team's effort.
The Sand Sharks will return to action on October 13 at the Bash in the Boro, hosted by NCAA Division I Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
